The split you notice between Colorado clubs — some fully nude with no bar, others topless with a full drinks list — comes from state liquor rules rather than house style.
Colorado Liquor Rule 1 CCR 203-2, Regulation 47-900 applies to licensed premises and bars a licensee or employee from permitting the display of pubic hair, anus, vulva or genitals, and prohibits any person on the premises from touching, caressing or fondling the breasts, buttocks, anus or genitals of another person.
The practical result is a two-tier market:
- Liquor-licensed clubs operate topless at most, because Regulation 47-900 governs conduct on the licensed premises.
- All-nude clubs operate without a liquor licence — which is why several carry “all nude” in the name. Local nude-entertainment ordinances in counties such as Larimer and Adams specifically carve out liquor-licensed venues, on the basis that those are already covered by the state liquor code.
The rule also bans patron contact on licensed premises, so house rules about touching are legal requirements rather than preferences.
A licensing change is coming in Denver
Denver is rewriting entertainment licensing rules that date back roughly 40 years. A city ordinance proposal would repeal the existing amusement, dance hall, social room and cabaret licences and replace them with three categories — limited entertainment business, nightlife entertainment business and adult entertainment business — effective 1 April 2027. Existing licensees can run out their current permits, but operators must apply under the new system before their present permit expires if they want to keep offering adult entertainment.
Denver
Denver holds most of the state’s clubs. Several operate under the PT’s brand, owned by VCG Holding Corporation, a consolidator of adult nightclubs. Note that PT’s Showclub and PT’s After Dark share the address 1601 W Evans Ave — treat these as either two rooms in one building or a duplicate listing, and confirm before planning around both.

Boulder
Boulder’s best-known club is gone. The Bustop closed on 1 September 2018, ending a 42-year run on Broadway. It opened in 1976 and began trading in 1977, advertising male as well as female dancers. The owner sold the 1.7-acre parcel in 2016 for $2.8 million, and the building was slated for demolition and replacement with affordable housing and artist space.

What to check before you go
- Ask whether the venue has a liquor licence. That one question tells you what to expect — all-nude venues are the ones without a bar.
- Call the club, not the listing. Colorado venues close, and Denver operators face a licensing transition before their permits expire in 2027.
- Verify shared addresses. Two PT’s listings give the same street address, so check which entrance you are being directed to.
