Alabama has a small strip club scene, concentrated in three cities. Our directory currently lists eight venues in the state: three in Birmingham, three in Huntsville and two in Mobile. This guide gives each club’s listing and address, and covers the state rules that decide what a venue with a liquor licence may allow.
Alabama rules on nudity and contact in licensed venues
The rules that matter most to visitors come from the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board and apply to businesses holding an ABC licence — in practice, venues that serve alcohol. The relevant rule is Ala. Admin. Code r. 20-X-6-.11, “Prohibition of Obscene, Lewd or Indecent Conduct on Licensed Premises”, in its current version effective 15 October 2021. In summary, it sets these limits for licensees:
- No bottomless dancing. Topless dancing is also prohibited where the part of the breast beneath the top of the nipple is exposed.
- No display of pubic hair, anus, vulva or genitals, and no acts or simulated acts of a sexual nature.
- No touching in either direction. Patrons may not touch, caress or fondle a performer’s body or clothing, and performers may not do the same to patrons or other performers.
- Limits on screens. Films and other visual material showing the prohibited acts may not be played on the premises.
At city level, Birmingham’s zoning code has a dedicated section on adult establishments, part of the supplementary regulations for the city’s business districts. Its stated purposes include limiting public safety problems linked to such businesses and protecting nearby property values. Huntsville and Mobile have their own codes of ordinances, which are worth checking for current local rules.

Huntsville
Two of Huntsville’s three listings sit close together on University Drive. The Cherry’s listing describes a nightclub with dancers, a full kitchen and TVs for sports and UFC pay-per-view events.

What to check before you go
- Ask whether the venue serves alcohol. The ABC Board rule applies to licensed premises, so what a club may allow depends on its licence. Do not assume two venues work the same way.
- Expect a no-touch policy. On ABC-licensed premises the rule bans touching by patrons and by performers, and staff enforce it.
- Confirm the club is open. Several listings date from 2017, and some have no phone number or website. Call ahead or check the club’s own channels for current hours, entry fees and dress code.
