Finland’s adult nightlife is small, scattered and quiet by Nordic standards. Outside Helsinki you will not find clusters of venues on a single street — instead there are one or two long-running erotic restaurants per city, often on a main street among ordinary bars. Our directory currently lists nine distinct venues across Finland, spread over six towns, and several of them have been operating for a decade or more.
That spread tells you something about how to plan a night. In Helsinki you can walk between venues. Everywhere else, the strip club is a destination in itself, usually open only in the late evening, and worth checking before you travel.
How strip clubs are regulated in Finland
There is no separate “strip club licence” in Finland. What these venues hold is an ordinary licence to serve alcoholic beverages — an anniskelulupa — issued under the Alcohol Act (1102/2017). We found no evidence in the licensing authority’s own guidance of a special permit category for erotic performances; the venues are licensed as restaurants and bars, and the entertainment is regulated through general rules rather than a dedicated adult-entertainment code.
A few points worth knowing:
- The supervising authority changed recently. From 1 January 2026, alcohol licensing and supervision moved to a new national body, the Lupa- ja valvontavirasto (Finnish Licensing and Supervisory Agency), which took over tasks previously handled by Valvira and the six regional state administrative agencies. Older guidance still circulating online names the former bodies.
- Age limits are set by the venue, not the alcohol law. Finnish alcohol legislation does not itself bar under-18s from licensed premises; the licence holder is entitled to impose an age limit, and adult venues in practice do. Expect ID checks at the door.
- Licensees must not act contrary to good practice. The Alcohol Act includes a general “good practice” standard for how alcohol is served, and a licence can be put at risk by conduct clearly at odds with generally accepted social values. This is the lever supervision actually uses — there is no separate rulebook for what happens on stage.
Finland’s licensed nightlife has also been contracting generally. Venue closures in central Helsinki have been widely reported since the mid-2010s, part of a broader European pattern. Several Helsinki clubs that were well known fifteen years ago no longer exist, which is why any Finland list should be checked against current opening information rather than memory.
Helsinki
The capital is the only place in Finland with a genuine cluster, and it has its own dedicated guide. In short: Gentlemans Club on Iso-Roobertinkatu, Crystal Show Club on Lönnrotinkatu, Alcatraz on Eerikinkatu — open since 1997 — and the booking-led Hot Girls Helsinki. All four sit within the central grid, walkable from each other.
Tampere
Hot Girls Tampere on Rongankatu operates in Finland’s second city as a private striptease and programme service rather than a walk-in stage club: the model is booking performers for parties, events and restaurants. If you are expecting a room with a stage, call ahead — this is a different format.
Kuopio
Hot Girls Kuopio on Tulliportinkatu runs on the same booking-service model as its Tampere and Helsinki counterparts, serving eastern Finland. It is the only listing we hold for the Kuopio region.
Lappeenranta
Punaiset Lyhdyt — “Red Lanterns” — sits on Valtakatu in central Lappeenranta, close to the Russian border, and is described as a long-standing erotic restaurant with a dancer line-up that rotates rather than a fixed cast.
Mikkeli
Late Night Mikkeli on Maaherrankatu is a small erotic restaurant-club in the lake district: 48 seats, full alcohol service, open daily from 8pm to 3am with dancer performances every day. Its website domain returned nothing when tested, so its Facebook page is the reliable source for current information.
Nummela
Club She in Nummela, about 50 km west of Helsinki, is an erotic club that takes bookings by phone and email.
What to check before you go
- Confirm the venue is open this week, not just this year. Finnish adult venues are small businesses in a shrinking sector, and several listings across the country have dead or parked websites. A phone call or a look at the venue’s Facebook page beats an out-of-date listing every time.
- Check whether it is a club or a booking service. Three of the nine Finnish listings — the Hot Girls venues in Helsinki, Tampere and Kuopio — describe themselves as private striptease and programme services supplying performers to events, not as walk-in stage clubs. Turning up unannounced will not work.
- Ask what the entertainment costs before you order. Entry, drinks and any private or VIP element are priced separately in these venues, and prices are rarely published online. Establish the numbers at the door and before any private booking.
