Hawaii has a small adult entertainment scene, concentrated on Oahu in and around Honolulu. Our directory currently lists five clubs in the state, all on Oahu: two in central Honolulu, one in Waikiki and two west of the city in Pearl City and Waipahu. There are no listings for Maui, the Big Island or Kauai at the moment.
Rules and regulation on Oahu
Bars and clubs that serve alcohol on Oahu are licensed and supervised by the Honolulu Liquor Commission, which enforces state liquor law, sometimes together with the Honolulu Police Department. The commission’s own rules also control conduct inside licensed premises, including where entertainers may perform; its records show penalties against venues where dancers performed topless outside the designated performance area.
The city’s ordinances treat clubs that don’t serve alcohol differently. Under the Revised Ordinances of Honolulu, a “nude dancing nightclub” is specifically defined as a venue without a liquor licence, and such clubs must follow a separate set of rules:
- 21 and over only, with valid government-issued photo ID.
- No touching of intimate areas in either direction between dancer and patron.
- Nude performances only on a fixed stage at least 18 inches high.
- Open performance rooms — no doors or curtains, with the whole room visible from the entrance.
Hostess bars are not strip clubs. Honolulu has many so-called hostess bars, especially along Keeaumoku Street and around Kapiolani Boulevard. They are licensed bars where staff sit and drink with customers, without stage shows, and local newspapers have reported Liquor Commission crackdowns and closures of some of them. This guide lists only venues our directory classifies as strip clubs.
Honolulu

Both are in the Ala Moana and Keeaumoku area, a short ride from Waikiki. Club 939 is on the same street as many of the hostess bars, so make sure you have the right address.
Waikiki
- Hawaii by Night — 2270 Kuhio Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815, the only listing inside the main hotel district.
Pearl City and Waipahu
- Club Hot Ash — 593 Kamehameha Hwy, Pearl City, HI 96782

Both are west of downtown Honolulu toward Pearl Harbor; plan on a car or a rideshare from Waikiki.
What to check before you go
- Bring valid photo ID. The legal drinking age in Hawaii is 21, and Honolulu’s ordinance only accepts undamaged, unexpired government photo ID.
- Confirm the current format. Whether a club serves alcohol, and what kind of performances it offers, depends on its licence and house policy. Call ahead if it matters to you.
- Verify opening hours and status. Small markets change fast. Check before a long trip to Pearl City or Waipahu.
