Montana has very few strip clubs for a state its size. They sit far apart, mostly along the interstates near the bigger towns in the west and south. Our directory lists six venues in Billings, Missoula, the Butte area, Three Forks and Gallatin Gateway near Bozeman. Some listings may be out of date: a 2023 Bozeman radio report said only four clubs were still operating in the state and named some venues as closed. Treat this guide as a starting point and confirm a club is open before you travel.
Rules and regulation in Montana
The Department of Revenue licenses alcohol sales in Montana, so any club that serves drinks does so under a state liquor licence. In many US states, licensed venues must limit nudity and fully nude clubs serve no alcohol; we have not found an official Montana source setting out a specific statewide nudity rule for licensed premises. Don’t assume a club is topless or fully nude — check with the club itself.
Lawmakers have debated the issue. Regional newspapers reported on a Senate bill that would have banned full nudity in clubs and required dancers to stay on stage, away from customers, modelled on a Billings city ordinance. We could not confirm whether it became law, so don’t treat it as current. Local zoning also matters: Billings has debated where adult businesses may operate, including a proposed ban on sites within 1,000 feet of churches, schools and day care centres.

What to check before you go
- Confirm the club is open. Montana’s clubs have changed often. Call ahead before you drive long distances.
- Ask about the format. Ask whether the club is topless or nude and whether it serves alcohol; don’t assume one rule applies across the state.
- Plan your transport. Several clubs sit on highways outside town, and public transport is limited at night in rural Montana. Arrange a sober driver or a taxi.
