New Mexico has a small adult entertainment scene, most of it in Albuquerque. Our directory currently lists six clubs in the state: four in Albuquerque, one in Santa Fe and one in Moriarty on I-40. This guide covers the main legal points, lists every club on file, and gives a few practical checks before you go.
Rules on nudity and alcohol in New Mexico
The key state law is the indecent dancing statute, NMSA 30-9-14.1 — in the criminal code rather than the Liquor Control Act. It makes it a petty misdemeanour for a person to knowingly and intentionally expose their intimate parts while dancing or performing in a licensed liquor establishment. The statute defines the female breast as the areola, and says an intimate part covered by nontransparent material does not count as exposed.
The rule also applies to the business: a licensee who allows indecent dancing on the premises is also guilty of a petty misdemeanour, and the liquor licence can be suspended or revoked. The New Mexico Supreme Court upheld the law for licensed liquor establishments in Nall v. Baca (1980). A related section covers “indecent waitering” — staff exposing intimate parts while serving in a licensed establishment. Because the law is tied to liquor-licensed premises, venues that serve alcohol and venues that do not can operate under different conditions.
Local zoning also applies. Albuquerque now controls where adult businesses may operate through its Integrated Development Ordinance, which replaced the city’s older zoning code; check the current text for exact distances.

What to check before you go
- Confirm the club is still open. Many of these listings date from 2017, and clubs close, move or rebrand. Call ahead or check the club’s own channels.
- Ask about alcohol and format. State law links the nudity limits to liquor-licensed premises, so a club with a full bar and a club with a non-alcoholic bar may offer different shows.
- Check cover charges, age limits and house rules. Entry prices, minimum age, dress codes and private-dance rules vary from club to club.
