Idaho has only a few strip clubs, and most of them are in the Boise area. Our directory lists seven venues in four cities: Boise, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Post Falls. Before you pick one, it helps to know that Idaho’s alcohol law sets firm limits on what can happen on stage in a venue that serves drinks — which is why several clubs describe themselves as bikini or topless venues.
Idaho’s rules for venues that serve alcohol
The main state rule is Idaho Code § 23-614, part of the alcoholic beverages title. It makes it unlawful for a liquor licensee, or the licensee’s staff, to knowingly allow certain conduct on licensed premises, including:
- live entertainment where a performer’s genitals, female areola, anal cleft, anus or pubic hair are exposed, or revealed through transparent clothing;
- live entertainment that includes or simulates sex acts;
- live entertainment that includes fondling of the breasts, buttocks or genitals;
- clothing or devices that show simulated versions of those body parts.
The statute has a narrow exception for serious theatrical or artistic performances at venues such as theatres and concert halls, which does not cover venues that mainly serve alcohol with this kind of entertainment. A staff member who breaks the rule commits a misdemeanour, with a fine of $100 to $300, 30 days to six months in county jail, or both, and the venue’s liquor licence can be suspended or revoked.
Cities add their own zoning rules. Boise’s legacy zoning code set separate standards for bikini bars and for sexually oriented businesses: a bikini bar at least 300 feet from any residential use and 1,000 feet from schools, daycares, parks, playgrounds, religious institutions and other bikini bars; a sexually oriented business at least 1,000 feet from the same sites and from premises serving alcohol, with hours of 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Boise has since adopted an updated zoning code, so check the current code for the rules in force today.

What to check before you go
- Confirm the club is open. Several listings have not been updated in years, and some have no phone number or website. Call ahead or check the club’s own channels.
- Know what kind of venue it is. Idaho’s alcohol law limits nudity and contact where drinks are served. Clubs differ in format and in whether they serve alcohol, so check with the club rather than assuming.
- Bring ID and follow house rules. Venues must keep minors out, and staff enforce the rules on conduct and contact.
